For businesses, Twitter is a must use these days and more and more business people are realizing this, but a great deal of them just can not figure out how they are supposed to use it. They have a hard time figuring out how they can use it to improve their business and why it works as well as it does for so many types of businesses.
Firstly you follow people that you are interested in and hopefully other Twitter members will find and follow you to see what you have to say about things. You can follow people in similar or related businesses and industries and sometimes find out things that you otherwise may never have heard about and you can share helpful information with your followers. Twitter will also let the followers of your followers know about you and suggest that they might want to follow you as well.
In a very short period of time you will find that you have hundreds or even thousands of people following you and reading your tweets, which are are short text messages you put on Twitter. You just have to be careful and keep your tweets informative and interesting and not try to sell in your tweets. Also things often appear on Twitter even before they appear on the news so you can sometimes get a jump on your competitors or give your followers a tweet that could help them get on something before their competitors find out about it.
It is also a good idea to use several social sites like Twitter and Facebook together and there are all kinds of applications that you can use to make this process easier, and most of them are free. One of the most recommended of these applications is called Tweetdeck. It really helps you to keep your social networking organized. You can move people around into different groups like one for those with marketing ideas and another for those with design ideas, etc.
You will also be able to learn so much about how people that you feel are important spend their entire days, what they eat, how they spend their work time and off work time and what they like and who they like to follow and you can follow those people as well. Also, knowing all this will make it much easier to communicate with them if you have the need or opportunity to do so in the future.
Again it is important not to do any actual selling in your Twitter tweets but it is fine to use them to bring followers to articles you have written or videos and audios you have made, which often could lead to an optin to your business list where you can contact them any way that you would like. Once you have thousands of followers that love to read your Twitter tweets, there is a very good chance that your business Twitter linked from list will also grow and grow.
It will take some time to get comfortable with using it but the main thing you want to strive for is to only deliver top notch helpful or interesting info and never put up and junk. If you put up junk, you will lose followers for sure. It would be better to put up nothing than something useless just to take up space. If you are closely following and reading the Twitter tweets from a number of important people in your industry every day, you will almost surely have plenty of things to tweet about and keep your followers happy.
You do not want to follow everyone that Twitter lets you know about. You can only read so many tweets in a day. Just because someone follows you does not mean that you have to follow them either. Just do a search for the areas or people you are interested in and follow twenty or thirty at first and get comfortable reading their tweets and then add more if you feel you have the time.
It is great for getting feedback from your customers and staff as it is so much more reliable than email, which often gets lost in spam filters these days, plus you do not need to reply to each tweet, unless you happen to want to. You can just send one tweet and everyone sees it, or you can send personal messages to a persons private Twitter box. Some people also have more that one Twitter account for different purposes, one business Twitter account and another for personal matters or just for gathering info which they will later tweet about on the business Twitter account, which would lessen the chance of someone following the same person and already have seen what you tweeted about, though that would not be much of a problem.
Twitter is definitely a great new form of networking and I suggest you get started right away, first reading and observing for a day or so and then tweeting away. Happy business twitter tweeting!
